Denise Woodring

Owner and Designer

Denise is an avid gardener and student of gardening for over 20 years.  She started Green Thumb Design LLC  in 2010 to put her love of gardening and talent to help other people have 'beautiful outdoors by design'.

Her formal education includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas and a Masters in Business Administration, Friends University, Wichita, Kansas. Denise is a Graduate of the Virginia Master Gardener program, and has completed the American Rainwater Catchment System Association (ARCSA) Level 200 Training.

Her interest in gardening was sparked with the purchase of her first home.  The interest turned into a passion and her hobby blossomed into a business. She uses sustainable gardening practices and incorporate them in her designs and consultations.

My experience with Denise was and still is delightful and fulfilling!  I am a gardener, but new to this area, and unfamiliar with some local gardening techniques and plant choices, so I hired Denise to make a plan for me.  She spent a lot of time talking to me and hearing my definite opinions of plants and style.  It was really hard turning over the design to someone else when I have always done my own.  And yet, the design plan Denise created for me is me !  I love the plant selection and have already had the design come to life in the yard and love to walk around and look at everything. Not only does she create large design plans to work off of, she also creates a binder with all the information on each plant in the design that you can use for the life of the plant.  Living with my landscape design created by Denise will be admired by and enjoyed by me as long as I am in this house and from the comments I have received from my neighbors, they too are happy with the view!
